Opening Prayer
O Holy Archangels, Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, you who stand in the perpetual light of the Beatific Vision, we venerate your sacred missions as they converge upon the mystery of our Redemption. Saint Michael, Prince of the Heavenly Host, we invoke your protection over the Sorrowful Mother as she stands undaunted against the darkness of Calvary. Saint Gabriel, who once announced the joy of the Incarnation, we petition you to console the Queen of Martyrs as the Word Made Flesh is offered for the life of the world. Saint Raphael, Medicine of God, bring the balm of celestial peace to that heart transfixed by the seven-fold sword, guiding her through the bitter valley of desolation.
We further petition for the grace to recognize your constant assistance, for we are assured by the venerable teachings of the Church that you are sent to help and sustain us in our trials. In our moments of deepest sorrow, when our own crosses seem too heavy for our frail nature, grant us the strength to perceive your angelic presence. As you did for the Sorrowful Mother, obtain for us the fortitude to remain faithful at our own “stations of the cross,” trusting in the sovereign aid of God’s messengers to lead us toward the light of grace.
